netsplit
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Netsplit is a turn-based tactics game. Two teams take turns moving units on a grid, attacking enemies, and trying to eliminate the opposing squad. The game can either be played solo against a computer player, or 1v1.
This game was made for the PIGSquad Build Your Own Game Jam 2026. It is currently more a game of systems and mechanics than a fully fledged game. My goal for this jam was to build up a bunch of systems and mechanics that I could use as a jumping off point to make my own spin on a tactics game. All of the assets are either free assets from Sketchfab or simple polygon shapes I generated with Bevy.
I've always loved trying to build and replicate games that I am huge fans of. I built my own mini Zelda adventure, and a few Pokemon inspired games (One, Two). This ones inspiration comes from my love of tactics games, especially Fire Emblem.

Gameplay
- Team Select — Pick your squad, then press Enter to start
- Unit Placement — Units are auto-placed on starting tiles
- Your Turn — Click a unit to see its move range (blue) and attack range (red). Click a blue tile to move, then choose Attack or Wait from the menu
- Combat — Attacks use the weapon triangle: Blade > Shock > Pierce > Blade. Terrain gives defensive bonuses. Units with enough speed get a follow-up attack
- Win Condition — Eliminate all enemy units
Tips
- Hover over tiles to see terrain bonuses (DEF/AVO)
- Hover over enemies in attack range to see a damage preview
- Weapons break after enough uses so plan accordingly
- Use terrain like Data Nodes (+1 DEF, +10 AVO) for defensive positioning
